Lecturer in Cybersecurity Ethics (Non-Tenure Track, F0570A)

Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies/ College of Arts and Letters Old Dominion University

The Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Old Dominion University invites applicants for a Lecturer of Cybersecurity Ethics to begin in Fall 2026. This is an annual, 10 month non-tenured appointment.

Cybersecurity Ethics plays a key role in the School of Cybersecurity, as all undergraduate majors are required to complete it to graduate. The successful candidate will be in charge of the content of the course, particularly in its online instances. We expect the candidate to have experience teaching ethics, particularly focused on technological issues, and the ability to communicate complex ideas to undergraduates.

The teaching load is 4/4. The appointee will primarily teach online sections of cybersecurity ethics classes. The candidate will also be responsible for coordinating the online sections of the cybersecurity ethics class, usually taught by part-time faculty and some departmental service duties.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. An MA in Philosophy or Religious Studies

  2. Online Teaching experience

  3. Demonstrated ability to teach at the undergraduate level

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Philosophy or Religious Studies or in a related field with 18 graduate-level credit hours in Philosophy

  • Certification in Online Teaching

  • Compelling evidence of successful teaching in cybersecurity ethics

  • Compelling evidence of successful teaching in philosophy or religious studies
