ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (Tenure-track) Department of Philosophy & Religious Studies Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA The Department of Philosophy & Religious Studies at Louisiana State University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in History of Philosophy that begins Fall 2026. Area of Specialization: History of Philosophy (specifically Ancient or Early Modern) Area of Competence: Ancient Philosophy or Early Modern Philosophy (whichever complements the AOS) AND one or more of the following:Ethics, History and Philosophy of Science/Technology, Bioethics and/or Philosophy of Medicine Position Description:Candidate must be able to teach the 2-course history sequence required for our undergraduate majors: History of Ancient and Medieval Philosophy and History of Modern Philosophy. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching and advising in our undergraduate and graduate M.A. program and be able to contribute significantly to the LSU Ethics Institute and its programming activity in collaboration with partners across campus. The Department is especially keen to attract candidates able to contribute to its projected undergraduate track in Bioethics and Medical Philosophy. The successfulcandidate will be expected to maintain an active record of research, publication, and to teach two courses per semester (four courses per year). We are a pluralistic department and encourage applicants from all philosophical traditions to apply. Required Qualifications: Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Philosophy prior to appointment.
