Job description |
We are seeking to appoint a high-calibre individual with a strong research and teaching profile to complement our existing strengths in Philosophy. The post is open to those with expertise in (1) social philosophy and (2) at least one area of theoretical philosophy (metaphysics; epistemology; philosophy of language, logic, mind, action), within any philosophical approach or tradition. Any combination of these specialisms will be considered. You may have equal levels of research specialism in both, or one may be more dominant than the other; the two areas may reflect two aspects of your work (e.g. an area of theoretical philosophy engaged through a social or political approach) or represent different non-intersecting areas of interest. An ability to teach feminist philosophy, philosophy of sex and gender, philosophy of race, philosophy of disability, non-Western philosophy, or the philosophy of logic and mathematics would be an advantage. A full job description (including the essential and desirable criteria for the post) is available at the web address above. The School of Philosophy, Religion and History of Science at the University of Leeds values an inclusive working and teaching environment and our aim is to develop a diverse staff and student community reflective of this. We select candidates on the basis of merit and ability and aspire to further diversify our School and Faculty community. We particularly welcome applications from candidates belonging to groups that have been under-represented in the University or the discipline, including but not limited to: women, disabled people, people who identify as Black, Asian or with other non-white ethnic groups, and people who identify as LGBTQIA+. |
