Job description |
The Department of Philosophy in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking to make one appointment, at the level of Tenure-Track Assistant Professor to begin July 1, 2026 (negotiable). AOS and AOC are open. The Department is especially interested in receiving applications in the areas of political philosophy, metaphysics, philosophy of science, early modern philosophy, philosophy of race and/or gender, aesthetics, and non-Western philosophy. Significant promise of research excellence is a necessary condition for consideration, as is evidence of strong skills in teaching. Also, please arrange for us to receive four letters of recommendation in support of your application, one of which should focus on teaching. We seek applicants who strive to promote student success in a public university setting that reflects the socioeconomic, racial, religious, and other diversity across the state. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, color, disability, gender, gender expression, gender identity, genetic information, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or status as a protected veteran.
