The Philosophy Department at Hamilton College invites applications for the Chauncey Truax Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Philosophy. The position is a two-year appointment as visiting assistant professor or instructor, to begin July 1, 2026, with a teaching load of three courses per year. AOS and AOC are open; the department is especially interested in candidates whose work includes engagement with public philosophy. Candidates who are ABD will be considered, although candidates with a Ph.D. are preferred. The expected 9-month base salary range for this position is $57,500 to $60,000. Candidates should submit a cover letter, CV, research statement, teaching portfolio, and writing sample via Interfolio at https://apply.interfolio.com/175940. We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate their experience in teaching or working with broadly diverse student populations while contributing to a vibrant learning community that values academic freedom, creativity, and intellectual curiosity. Your cover letter should address the ways in which you would enhance the educational experience of students and further the college's educational goals (https://hamilton.smartcatalogiq.com/current/college-catalogue/educational-goals-and-curriculum/). We will solicit letters of reference from candidates who are selected to move on to the second stage of the search. Questions regarding the search may be directed to Prof. Alexandra Plakias, Search Committee Chair, at [email protected]. Our review of applications will begin on January 15, 2026.
