IE University’s School of Humanities invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Philosophy to join our interdisciplinary faculty in September 2026. We are especially interested in candidates who specialize in Epistemology (including but not limited to Philosophy of Science) or Philosophy of Mind, with one or more of the following desirable qualities: • Teaching competence in the history of philosophy • Engagement with public philosophy • Experience in interdisciplinary and/or applied scholarship • Ability to contribute to the School’s UNESCO Chair in AI Ethics & Governance • Research and/or teaching that engages indigenous and/or non-Western philosophy The successful applicant will teach an introductory course titled Philosophical Questions and Methods as well as philosophy courses in the Philosophy, Politics, Law, and Economics (PPLE) program. Additional teaching opportunities are available in our Bachelor of Humanities degree, the IE Impact humanities requirement (taken by all undergraduates), and philosophy-adjacent courses in other Schools. Applicants are expected to demonstrate commitment to research excellence by producing high-quality, peer-reviewed books and articles, sharing their work at national and international conferences, and engaging with professional and community initiatives. They should also be dedicated to teaching in a liberal arts college environment and will play a significant role in shaping the future direction of our growing department. Teaching responsibilities include introductory and advanced undergraduate courses as well as master’s-level programs in other Schools. Additional duties include contributing to departmental administration and university service (including student recruitment and strategic outreach). To be considered, the candidate needs to have a PhD in Philosophy by the date of appointment. The School of Humanities is a growing, dynamic, interdisciplinary hub of committed scholars encompassing diverse fields such as history, literature, philosophy, art, digital humanities, linguistics and anthropology.
