Job description

Tenure-Track Faculty Position in 20th- and 21st-Century European Philosophy

The Faculty of Philosophy at Université Laval invites applications for a regular Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position in 20th- and 21st-Century European Philosophy.

 

Description of the position:

The candidate selected to fill this post will teach full-time in our undergraduate and graduate programs in the field of 20th- and 21st-Century European Philosophy (Continental Philosophy). Although the following areas will not be the primary selection criteria, they will be considered complementary: philosophy of the human sciences, philosophy of technology, feminist philosophy, critical theory, aesthetics. A solid knowledge of contemporary German and French phenomenology will be considered an asset. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of research through their publications and will be required to supervise master's and doctoral theses in 20th- and 21st-Century European philosophy. They will be expected to participate in the academic and administrative activities of the faculty.*

* Please note, all teaching and administrative duties at Université Laval take place in French.

Selection Criteria

PhD in philosophy or equivalent at the time of hiring; ability to undertake autonomous and original research in the field, with a view towards international publications; teaching experience; relevant scholarly publications.

Salary in accordance with the current collective agreement.
