Mount Allison University acknowledges, honours, and respects that the land named Sackville, NB is part of the unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People who are the historic inhabitants, custodians, and dwellers on the land where our University is built and confirms its commitment to strengthening relationships with all Indigenous peoples. Mount Allison University is committed to diversity and inclusiveness. We encourage applications from members of equity-deserving groups, including but not limited to racialized individuals, Indigenous persons, persons with disabilities, and persons of all sexual and gender identities. We seek candidates with qualifications and knowledge to contribute to the further diversification of our campus community. In each year of the appointment the McKenna School Post-Doctoral Fellow will be expected to teach one third-year course in philosophy (which in at least the first year of the appointment will be in some area of history of social and political thought) and one fourth-year capstone seminar for the PPE students. The capstone seminar should be in an area of interest to the applicant that would appeal to students in philosophy, politics, and economics. The McKenna Fellow is also expected to mentor undergraduate students by exposing them to new ideas and perspectives, sharing their research through public talks, and creating opportunities for networking. The appointment will commence July 1, 2026, subject to budgetary approval. Submissions should include a letter of application with curriculum vitae, writing sample, and a teaching dossier (including, but not limited to, a brief statement of teaching philosophy, a summary of teaching experience, and a brief description or syllabus of the proposed capstone seminar). Shortlisted candidates will be contacted subsequently to submit three letters of reference. Completed applications should be sent to: Dr. Robbie Moser Consideration of applications will begin March 2, 2026 and will continue until an appointment is made. The goal of the McKenna School is to enhance and diversify the teaching and research programs in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (www.mta.ca/ppe/), to enrich the undergraduate student experience in those programs through internships, scholarships, international exchanges, and conferences, and to increase the profile of the PPE program at Mount Allison and throughout the broader academic community. At Mount Allison, we are committed to ensuring your interview experience is as comfortable and accessible as possible. If you require any accommodations or adjustments during the interview process, please do not hesitate to inform us. Your needs are important to us, and our dedicated team is here to support you. Please contact People and Culture at [email protected] for more information. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority. Canadian and permanent residents should indicate their citizenship status in their application. |
