McGill Biomedical Ethics Unit / Studies of Translation, Ethics, and Medicine (STREAM) is inviting applications for postdoctoral research fellows (PDF) with a background in philosophy, decision science or statistics.* Priority will be given to candidates with demonstrated knowledge of drug trials and a penchant for interdisciplinary work. The position is for one year with at least one year renewal, pending satisfactory performance. The projects will focus on connections between the moral and scientific aspects of drug development (human and animal research), with a focus on extrapolation, research decisions, and ethics. This work will aim at providing conceptual grounding for practical ethical and scientific decision-making and communication in drug development. The PDF will work under the supervision of Jonathan Kimmelman and in collaboration with teams based at various other institutions. Candidates must relocate to Montreal, Quebec. The PDF is encouraged to develop their own research within the scope of the project, and to publish both team and independently authored manuscripts.
