The Department of Philosophy and Religion at Appalachian State University invites applications for a renewable 3-year faculty position in Philosophy at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor beginning August 2026. Instructional duties will include teaching in the above areas and other philosophy courses as needed. The successful hire will also be expected to participate in service activities. Candidates who are ABD will be considered, but the position requires a Ph.D. in Philosophy to be awarded by July 1, 2026. The Department of Philosophy and Religion provides distinctive academic programs in which students critically and creatively examine the beliefs, values, practices, and institutions that shape human lives.
