About the Role Informal Queries
The Department of Philosophy at the University of Warwick is inviting applications for an 18-month, fixed-term Research Fellow to assist with the AHRC–DFG project ‘The mathematical turn in philosophy: measurement, computation, (de)idealization’, led by Dr Walter Dean and Dr Benedict Eastaugh. We are seeking candidates with a PhD in philosophy, mathematics, or computer science, with research expertise in an area relating to topics covered by the project. We particularly welcome applications from members of groups currently underrepresented in philosophy. To find out more about the project, please visit our website. About You The successful candidate will be an exceptional researcher with a developing profile in their field. We are especially interested in candidates with existing research expertise in an area relating to the topics of the project, such as mathematical logic (including reverse mathematics, computability theory, and proof theory) or theoretical computer science (including complexity theory, computational social choice, Bayesian networks or similar theoretical developments in artificial intelligence). PhD Status If you are near submission of your PhD, or have not yet had it conferred, any offers of employment will be made at Research Assistant level, at the highest spinal point of pay grade 5 (£34,610 per annum). Upon receipt of evidence confirming the successful award of your PhD, you will be promoted to Research Fellow, at the lowest spinal point of grade 6 (£35,608 per annum).
