Assistant or Associate Professor of Philosophy

The Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Macau invites applications for the position of Associate/Assistant Professor of Philosophy with a specialization in Philosophy of Science or History of Western Philosophy. The area of research specialty (AoS) is open, and the aforementioned approach would be preferable. The Department has teaching needs at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a PhD in Philosophy, or in a related area, and are expected to have an international research profile and strong publication record, commensurate with their career stage, in their area of research expertise, preferably in Philosophy of Science or History of Western Philosophy. Applicants should also have an excellent record of tertiary teaching and supervision experience, again commensurate with their career stage. Fluency in both English and Chinese is preferred. 

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in August 2026.

Remuneration

A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP855,400 (approximately USD105,600) will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
