Job description

The Department of Philosophy at Florida State University (FSU) invites applications for a position as a Dean’s Postdoctoral Scholar. This is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure-track position with an anticipated start date in August 2026. Initial appointment is for 12 months, with the possibility of renewal (for up to 3 years total in the position). Salary competitive. The teaching load is four courses per year (Fall and Spring semesters).

Area of Specialization: Philosophy of Mind, Philosophy of Cognitive Science, or Epistemology

The successful applicant should be willing and able to teach either or both of Introduction to Philosophy and a lower-level applied ethics course.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. (or highest degree appropriate) in Philosophy (or a closely related field) from an accredited institution, with demonstrated ability to teach and participate in our strong philosophy undergraduate, M.A., and Ph.D. programs. Applicants must have received the Ph.D. no earlier than August 2021, and it must be conferred before August 2026.
