The Department of Philosophy at the University of Toronto invites applications for a one-year full-time contractually limited term appointment (CLTA) in Logic. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2026 and an end date of July 31, 2027. Applicants must have earned a PhD degree in Philosophy or a related area by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching. We seek candidates who are able to teach introductory classes in logic and whose teaching interests complement and enhance our existing departmental strengths. Candidates must have teaching experience in a degree-granting program, including lecture preparation and delivery, curriculum development, and development of online material/lectures. Additionally, candidates must possess a demonstrated commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry and a demonstrated interest in teaching-related scholarly activities. Evidence of excellence in teaching and a commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry can be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, awards and accolades, presentations at significant conferences, the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application (with required materials outlined below) as well as strong letters of reference. The application materials should give evidence of excellent expository, organizational, and interpersonal skills and the requisite expertise in a relevant area of Philosophy. The salary range is $110,000 to $135,000 CAD per annum, depending on experience. Negotiations beyond this salary range will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates. The University of Toronto has three campuses, St. George, Scarborough, and Mississauga, each with its own undergraduate programs. The advertised position is on the St. George (downtown) Campus. The University of Toronto is an international leader in research and education in Philosophy.
