Humanities Adjunct Faculty

Elgin Community College seeks an adjunct instructor to teach philosophy and ethics courses that are offered through our Humanities department. To be considered, applicants must hold a master’s degree in philosophy or a master’s degree in another discipline with at least 18 graduate hours in philosophy coursework. Candidates must also be able to teach in-person on campus including availability for evening classes at our main campus in Elgin, Illinois.

The successful candidate is expected to 1) design lessons/units that promote critical thinking through student-content and student-to-student learning activities, 2) foster a supportive learning environment for students by employing evidence-based instructional strategies, 3) demonstrate commitment to student learning and teaching effectiveness, and 4) apply culturally relevant teaching practices.
