Phillips Academy Andover seeks an Adjunct Instructor in Philosophy and Religious Studies to teach two sections over our three trimesters that span from early September 2026 to June 2027. These two sections would include introductory-level (10th grade) sections of either ‘Proof and Persuasion’ or ‘Faith and Doubt’ throughout the year, and optionally senior electives depending on candidate interest and background. Prospective candidates are encouraged to review Phillips Academy’s Course of Study for a sense of the course descriptions and current offerings. Phillips Academy is an intentionally diverse residential school committed to creating an equitable and inclusive community in which students from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and experiences learn and grow together. Strong candidates will also be committed to cultivating equitable learning experiences for all students and be eager and willing to collaborate with departmental faculty on both teaching and student learning. Master’s degree or Ph.D. in philosophy or religious studies preferred. At least three years’ teaching experience also preferred. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Please submit a cover letter addressed to Dean of Faculty Ben Temple, a resume or CV, scans of unofficial or official transcripts for higher education, and the contact information for three professional references including one direct supervisor. Letters of reference, teaching portfolios, and/or sample syllabi are welcome but not required. The salary range for this position may vary based on the numbers of sections taught. Each section taught can range from $5,000 - $5,500.
