Assistant Professor of Philosophy

The Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Umeå University invites applications for two positions as Assistant Professor. The call is open to all subjects in the faculty where scientific research is conducted, among them philosophy. Of the two positions, no more than one may be allocated to the same subject area within the faculty.

The philosophy subject in Umeå has 18 permanent teachers. It offers courses and awards degrees in philosophy at the undergraduate (first-cycle), advanced (second-cycle), and graduate (third-cycle) level. The research activity is high and research is pursued over a broad range of philosophical areas, including philosophy of artificial intelligence, aesthetics, history of philosophy, epistemology, philosophy of mind, metaethics, metaphysics, normative ethics, political philosophy, philosophy of language, applied ethics, and philosophy of science.The subject strives for the highest quality in research, teaching, and in all areas of its activities.
