Assistant Professor

The Department of Philosophy at Virginia Tech invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor in Philosophy to begin on August 10, 2027. The area of specialization (AOS) is Metaphysics and Epistemology (broadly construed), and the area of concentration (AOC) is open. The standard courseload is 2-2 and includes courses at the undergraduate and graduate (MA) level. Applicants must have a PhD in Philosophy by the time of appointment and a demonstrated record of excellence in research in and teaching of metaphysics and epistemology. While not a requirement, the department is also very interested in candidates with teaching interests in the history of philosophy.

The expected salary range is $73,000 – $83,000 per annum (9-month academic appointment), depending on experience.
