The Department of Philosophy at Miami University invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor position in Medical Ethics, with competence in other areas of applied ethics and/or environmental philosophy. We have teaching needs in applied ethics, environmental philosophy, and writing philosophy.  The College of Arts and Science at Miami University increasingly focuses on preparing students for careers in healthcare, including nursing, physician assistant, and pre-med programs.  The successful candidate will teach 12 credit hours per semester, including Medical Ethics at least once a year, and possibly every semester. The remaining teaching load would include introductory courses and other Applied Ethics courses.  Prior coursework in biology and/or the health sciences is desirable but not required. Service to the department and university is expected. The successful candidate will also work closely with the Mallory-Wilson Center for Healthcare Education.

Assistant Teaching Professor positions at Miami University are non-tenure track positions, but are renewable and have opportunities for promotion (Associate and Full ranks) that include long-term contracts. We seek a candidate who will flourish in a pluralist department.

Must have PhD in Philosophy by Spring 2027. Teaching experience and demonstration of teaching effectiveness required.
