| Job description |
The Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School of Public Policy (https://spp.gatech.edu) at the Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position. We seek a philosopher specializing in the philosophy of science and technology, political philosophy, practical ethics, or social epistemology, whose research and teaching addresses the ethical, legal, social, or policy implications of artificial intelligence (AI) and related technologies. We welcome candidates with an appreciation of the historical development of AI and related technologies as well as those with strong perspectives on the future development of this technology. The successful candidate will be prepared to teach AI Ethics and Policy to Georgia Tech undergraduate and graduate students in a wide range of disciplines and to develop new courses to expand the Carter School’s curricular offerings in this area. They will also be expected to develop a nationally recognized research program and contribute to teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate and graduate levels. We are especially interested in candidates whose research and teaching interests relate to and could contribute to one or more of the School's strengths in energy and environmental policy, health policy, information and communications (ICT) policy, science and technology policy, and social and urban policy. The committee will begin reviewing applications on October 26, 2026 and applicants are encouraged to apply by this date for optimal consideration; however, the search will continue until the position is filled. Applicants are asked to provide a full dossier, including a cover letter, curriculum vitae, research statement, one writing sample, teaching dossier, and 3 letters of recommendation. |
