Grade 7: Salary in the range £31,076 - £32,958 p.a.

Applications are invited for a full-time Research Fellow in Neuroethics to conduct collaborative research and related activities for the interdisciplinary research project BrainCom: Neuroprosthetics for speech (funded by the European Commission). The Fellow will work under the supervision and direction of Dr Hannah Maslen (BrainCom Principal Investigator) and will conduct research on philosophical and ethical issues related to the research and clinical adoption of neuroprosthetics.

The post is fixed-term for 3 years from the date of appointment (ideally June or July 2017) and the Fellow will be located in central Oxford at the Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics, which is part of the Faculty of Philosophy.

The postholder will conduct collaborative research in applied ethics relevant to the BrainCom project, which will also include the provision of research assistance for Dr Maslen, literature reviews and preparing drafts of publications, and liaising with the ethics

Prior to the required start date for the position, the postholder is to have received the degree of PhD (or equivalent) in philosophy with specialisation in practical ethics, or at least have submitted and preferably had examined a completed doctoral dissertation. Also essential are excellent research skills, an outstanding research record and proven track record in publishing in bioethics. Interdisciplinary experience and publication output at the interface between philosophy/ethics and neuroscience or neurotechnology is desirable.

Applications must be made online via the Oxford University jobs website.

Applications are to be submitted no later than 12.00 midday on Thursday 6 April 2017.
