As a pluralistic philosophy department that values and respects a broad range of intellectually diverse perspectives and scholarship, we seek applicants who will value and add to our diversity and who will contribute to the broad Catholic tradition of philosophical inquiry. Our department is at the center of a Catholic university whose mission is inspired and still guided by the traditions of the Jesuits and the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary. The department is particularly interested in candidates with the ability to contribute to one or more of LMU’s interdisciplinary programs, such as Asian and Asian American Studies, African American Studies, Chicana/o Studies, etc. Interest in and value for university citizenship and engagement are important for faculty at LMU.
