The College of New Jersey welcomes applicants for a tenure-track joint appointment in philosophy and the liberal learning program at the level of Assistant Professor, beginning Fall 2018. Teaching duties include an evenly divided combination of courses in philosophy and in liberal learning at both the lower and the upper levels. Courses under liberal learning include both courses in philosophy (including Introduction to Philosophy, Contemporary Moral Issues and Introduction to Logic) as well as courses in the First Seminar Program. Overall load is 3 sections per semester, with possibility of reduction in connection with research program. Area of specialization and area of concentration open, but the program has particular needs in applied ethics, ancient, modern, feminist philosophy, political philosophy and Asian philosophy. Salary is competitive. Ph.D. in philosophy, evidence of superior scholarship and record of excellence in teaching required. Service contributions at the department, school and college levels and to the liberal learning program expected.
