The University of Stirling School of Arts and Humanities is seeking to appoint to a fixed term Lectureship in Philosophy from 1 September 2012 to 31 December 2013 to strengthen its position as a leading UK university.

This post has been created as a result of the success of several existing members of staff in securing external funding for research projects, and a central requirement of the post will be to provide a core undergraduate module in the Philosophy of Mind at 3rd and 4th year level. The post is open to candidates pursuing research in any area of Philosophy, though preference may be given to those whose work best complements our existing strengths.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate a strong record of achievement in philosophical research, commensurate with their career stage, and should have experience of successful teaching in philosophy at undergraduate level.

The person appointed will be expected to:

• contribute to the department's teaching, for the most part at undergraduate level, and specifically including a core module in Philosophy of Mind;
• pursue a programme of research leading to internationally excellent publications that will make a positive contribution to Philosophy's submission to REF 2014;
• play a full part in the active research culture of the department, and to join in collaborative research activities;
• assist with academic administration.
