The Philosophy Department of the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg / Faculty of Human Sciences announces a

Full Professorship for Practical Philosophy  (salary level W3)

open for appointment from October 1, 2013.

The candidate is expected to conduct research and teaching in an appropriate range including core fields of practical philosophy such as normative ethics, political philosophy, action theory and philosophy of law. A research focus on applied ethics, preferably on ethics of the life sciences, is required. Proficiency in at least one area of the history of philosophy is additionally desirable.

The successful applicant is primarily responsible for the teacher study program in ethics. Engagement in international and interdisciplinary collaboration in research and teaching is expected. Fluent proficiency of German is indispensible for teaching and administration.
 
Formal prerequisites for the appointment are the habilitation or equivalent postdoctoral qualifications according to § 35 (3) HSG-LSA.
