Job description |
The UH-Manoa Department of Philosophy invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position at the rank of either assistant or associate professor (depending on qualifications), beginning August 1, 2018, subject to position clearance and availability of funds. Assistant Professor Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in philosophy (ABDs will be considered provided that all degree requirements are completed by August 1, 2018). AOS: Either (1) South Asian Buddhist philosophy (with language competency in Sanskrit) or (2) ancient Greek philosophy (with language competency in ancient Greek). Assistant Professor Desirable Qualifications: Demonstrated excellence in teaching and research; one or more years' prior experience as an assistant professor at a research university. AOC: one or more of Continental philosophy, epistemology, philosophy of science, philosophy of mind, moral and political philosophy, and ability to teach introductory inductive logic. Associate Professor Minimum Qualifications: all assistant professor minimum qualifications listed above, plus applicant currently holds the rank of associate professor at a four-year institution of higher education. Associate Professor Desirable Qualifications: clear evidence (in the form of extensive publications) of a well-established research program in the applicant's AOS; experience supervising dissertations or serving on dissertation committees. Duties: Pursue original academic research program, teach courses in areas of specialization and competence (2/2 load), dissertation supervision, service on department committees, and other duties as assigned by the Chair. Pay range: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
