Data feed
The PhilJobs: JFP appointment database is maintained to facilitate research on the philosophy job market and related aspects of the profession. Anyone is free to use the data published on PhilJobs: JFP for research purposes (but not to redistribute the data). A machine-readable (CSV) version of all our non-confidential appointment data can be obtained by following the link below.
This data feed does not contain confidential diversity information provided by appointees. However, we will compute aggregate statistics regarding such information and supply it upon request. Please email all such requests to David Bourget. We will not refuse any reasonable request for statistics provided that we have the technical resources to compute them.
- Download the appointments file. This file contains all known appointments. The genders specified here were provided by placement officers, not appointees. Where no gender has been provided, we try to supply (in a separate column) a guess based on the name.
- Download the graduation statistics. This file contains the graduation statistics known for each department (PhDs awarded per year).
